The member of parliament for Gomoa East Consistuency, Honorable Kojo Asumanyi has assured all electorates within his Consistuency of great Infrastructural Development projects come 2021 if he is to retain his seat as the member of parliament for the consistuency.

He made this address to his consistuents when he joined three electoral areas for a campaign float organized by the leaderships of Panfokrom Electoral area, Okyereko electoral area and Dominase electoral area on Saturday morning, 24th October, 2020.

In response, the Chairman for Panfokrom Electoral area, Mr. Arhin also pledged a sure win for honorable Kojo Asumanyi within the three electoral areas.

MPs IN GOMOA EAST ARE POLITICALLY TRAUMATIZED

PRELIMINARY
In Mansokrom, there was a man who happened to live with sixteen children. Agya Manso, popularly known, tilt his maize and cassava farm tediously and consistently to support his fatherhood responsibility. In order not to shirk his mandate as a father he stayed not a day without going to farm. This is all because of the numerous children he’d brought fort on earth.

As determined as he was, his first child, Kojo Manso, after struggling to complete shs, got scholarship to study agric in the university. Several years after his tertiary education, he got permanent employment in the telecommunications service. There, he started earning salary every months so decided to care for the rest of his siblings. When Kojo Manso took over the responsibility of his dad, he thought his dad was irresponsible taken care of them. That’s the time he had reminisced the difficult old days when six out of the sixteen children were dropped out of secondary education due to financial insufficiency.

Meanwhile his father did his best through his peasant farm to give all of them secondary education, but alongside, uncertainty set in. With this harbored in mind, he grew profound dislike and bitter hatred for the dad to the extent that he never wished to see him again.

At age thirty two, Kojo Manso had already made a family of five; three girls – two boys with his lovely Angela in the city. He did all his best to save towards the upliftment of his children considering the indolent of his father as against their personal development.

Ahead of pending issues, he managed whole heartedly to see to the completion of Liza, Rolan and Kukua, three of his children at the tertiary education. Trying to get a secured employment for them, their company was sold to a private firm. So one year after his third daughter’s graduation, he became as weak as his dad. Thither, one could even conclude that, his dad was far better off because he had some petty petty foodstuffs at home, Kojo Manso unlike his dad has gone into adverse crisis. All he had, had been invested
into his children and the wife’s business so from there, given the last baby a better life even at jss became a higher task.

Along the line, Kojo realized that his dad was not deliberately lackadaisical taken full responsibility of the house. “if I have not been able to give my two children a good life at jss
and sss level then my dad with sixteen children was far better off” So he decided to go back to the village the next day and apologize to his dad for the childish attitude mete unto him. Early in the morning, Mr. Kojo Mans set off to the village. Fiv hours later, he got home to see the whole community folks in black and red. With alacrity, he rushed home to find out what was happening but to his surprise, it’s the demise of his father that had turned the whole community into dark and red. He couldn’t get the opportunity to apologize.

MAIN SUBMISSION
The long and short of it all is that, one day, if proper care and due diligence is however not factored we may stand to lose all our good leaders to highly populated constituency of almost 110,000 registered voters. Even when we refer back to 2016, the number of registered voters stood about 9700 plus. Making reference to the preliminary, some may be no where to be found at the time the electorates realize their zeal to facelift the status of our constituency. Mind you, we the voters don’t take into consideration some of these key factors. Therefore unknowningly, we may act on mere intuition like Kojo Manso and devolop similar hatred and bitterness against some good leaders to have surfaced our constituency.

At my age, God has blessed me to clearly witness the productivity of three consecutive MPs in my Consitituency. Hon. Richmond Sam Quarm (April 2003 to 6th January, 2009., Hon Ekow Okyere Panyin Eduamoah ( 7th January, 2009 to 6th January, 2017) including the incumbent, Hon Kojo Asemanyi. Both MPs did their best but wasnt satifactory to the electotates. To talk of the incumbent mp, he’s also done his best but not satisfactory. They are all not satisfying the people because of the huge number of occupants as in line with the numerous communities in Gomoa East alone.

So Gomoa East must either be re-divided or given the status of a municipality as enshrined in the section 42 of the Local Government Act of2004 which stipulates under sub-section 2 that; the President may by executive instrument declare any area within Ghana to be a district on the recommendation of the electoral commission, and before the electoral commission make any recommendations under sub section 3, It must take good cognizance of;
(i) A district, that there is a minimum population of seventy-five thousand
People;
(ii) A municipality, that the geographical area consists of a single compact
Settlement and that there is a minimum ninety-five thousand people;
(iii) A metropolis, that there is a minimum of two hundred and fifty thousand
People; and
(b) the geographical contiguity and economic viability of the area.

ANALYSIS
In retrospect, way back 2016, Gomoa East qualified to be a municipal assembly considering the requirements well documented in the local governments act 2004.
To buttress my points,

1. Ablekuma North with almost 44,000 registered voters has the status of a municipal. Though there may be other important factors, one would equally ask that, why should an area that surpasses the status of a municipal still be a district and some below the population of 75,000, status of a district be given a municipal status?
2. Again, with almost 56,000 registered voters in Agona East they are still under the rank of a district. No one would argue in favor of Gomoa East when it comes to the number of intra and inter community tarred roads, devolopments, personal support schemes and many between these two districts. Agona East is far ahead
3. To talk of Effutu with almost 55,000 registered voters. The number of interventions there can not be counted. Talk of trauma Hospital, police school, fire service department, ecg, nursing training and many many others.
   I want to reiterate that, though they may be other factors to respective constituency and municipal devolopments, :but per legitimate requirements, Gomoa East is cogently under the circumference of a municipal or redivision. These analyzes have been put across just to stress on the point that, our Parliamentary candidates are being traumatized and we urgently need the support of government in this tangent. We need not to be Mr. Kojo Manso else our constituency will never see the light of day.

Regarding the number of registrants in the upcoming election, our total population when put into cencus may exceed 20,000 plus. So, ideally, Gomoa East qualifies for every concerns raised.

CONCLUSION
We are by this appealing to the appropriate quarters especially, the office of the president to ease the heavy burden of our mps in Gomoa East by re-dividing or be given the status of a municipal assembly. Which we believe will hasten devolopmental projects in our constituency and thereby paint a good picture of the various MPs who would make a dignified pledge to serve his/her people.
